Description
Photograph of men examining earthquake damage to a building on Sansome Street, San Francisco, [s.d.]. To the right of center, two men stand beside a horse-drawn cart, peering at the toppled pillars surrounding the doors of what appears to be a tenement building. To the left, a sign in the building's window reads "To Let. C.H. Umbsen & Company. 20 Montgomery Street". The street in the foreground is cobblestone. To the left, an empty chair stands on the sidewalk.
