Description
Photograph of the Aloha Tower Pier 8 on Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaii, [s.d.]. Several large ships sit in the water with small structures crowded on the harbor on either side of them. The harbor continues into the background on the left while the darkly-colored pier stands on the left. At the near corner of the pier stands the Aloha Tower with a light shining from its top windows. A bare mountainside stands in the background. Photo sleeve reads "copied September, 1931".

Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
