Description
Photograph of Mount St. Mary's College Marian Hall of Fine Arts with students painting, [s.d.]. At center, a nun in a traditional habit can be seen standing beside two girls. The nun's arm is extended outwards towards a piece of canvas supported on an easel. The nun paints the canvas with a small brush as the girls watch. Beside the easel, a small box can be seen on a stool. In the background, at least four other girls can be seen seated and painting. To the far left, a large building with a tile roof is visible. Near the center of the building, a standing group of girls can be seen. In the extreme background, a large mountain range covered in vegetation can be seen. Photoprint reads: "Victor Barnaba Photography, 409 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica, Calif., Exbrook 4-2206".

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
