Photograph of a view down Broadway, Los Angeles, [s.d.]. Automobiles, cable-car tracks, and cables can be seen down the street that descends into the center background. What appear to be ornaments can be seen hung on trees that line the road. Tall buildings line both sides of the street, and smoke can be seen escaping from a building in the right background. Visible signs include: "Nine-Three-Nine So. Broadway. Los Angeles. Room 800. VA-2542". "Building Being Modernized for Occupancy of Large Business Organizations. For Lease. Inquire Office Building", "United Artists", "Texaco. The Texas Company", "Platt Music Co.", "L.L. Burns Bldg. 910 S. Broadway", "Western Costum[?]", "Radio Supply Co. 912-14 So. Broadway", and "Southern California Gas Company. Dependable Service. Gas".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
