Description
Photograph of the intersection of West 12th Street and South Broadway, [s.d.]. An ornate lamp post can be seen at center on the edge of a sidewalk. A street light with a sign reading "Go" hanging from its side can be seen to the left of the lamp post, while a fire hydrant can be seen to the right. Automobiles are visible parked on the far side of the street behind the lamp post, while shops line the far side of the street. Visible signs include: "Gleaming White Porcelain. Frigidaire. Advanced Refrigeration. 3 Year Guarantee", "Any Car Greased $1.00 Fords, Stars, and [?]", "Free Grease Job With Every Oil Change", "High Pressure Lubrication Zerolene Oils and Greases. Mobiloils", and "Mike's Auto Park 10 All Day 1160". The corner of a building is visible in the left foreground.

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
