Description
Photographic portrait of Parker Dear and Elena Couts Dear on an enclosed porch at Guajome Ranch in San Diego, 1870-1880. The couple is seated in chairs at center, Elena on the left in a rocking chair and Parker on the right in a wooden chair. The porch on which they are seated in a long, narrow room with a wooden wall at left and an adobe wall at right. The wooden wall has many large windows and a massive open double doorway. There is a lamp hanging from the ceiling at right. The adobe wall is lined with benches and chairs.

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
