Photograph of a view of Hollywood Boulevard, showing the Pantages Theater, ca.1936. Hollywood Boulevard runs from the foreground to the background at center. It is a wide paved street with many early automobiles parked along the curbs on both sides. Several tall buildings can be seen in the background, including the Taft Building at left and the Equitable Building at right. Many smaller buildings are visible in the foreground, and the Pantages Theater is at right.; Legible signs include, from left: "Plymouth Dodge Service", "Trucks", "Pulver Used Cars", "Taft Building", "Eagle", "Samuel Goldwyn Presents Miriam Hopkins Merle Oberon Joel McCrea in 'These Three'", "Pantages Hollywood", "Hollywood Health Cafeteria", "Equitable Building Hollywood", and "Hearn's Auto Park".

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
