Description
Photograph of a crevasse on Palisade(?) Glacier, eleven miles west of Big Pine, [s.d.]. The glacier tears open revealing a large, dark crevasse of snow at center. Ice crystals dusted with dirt line the edges of the cliffs of the opposing snow walls formed by the crevasse while the smooth sheets of snow along the inner sides appear to be clean and white. The opening has formed dark caves and column-like formations of snow and ice within the opening the extend out of view below. A person in dark winter gear with an ice pick at hand walks over the short, white waves of snow across the frozen surface of the glacier which extends into the distance.
