Description
Photograph of an exterior view of a Gilmore gas station in an unidentified location, [s.d.]. The small gas station is at center and has six pumps, three in the foreground at center, and three in the background at right. A small store can be seen in the background at center, while a tall tower with the word "Gilmore" on its side and a lion on the top rises from the roof. The station is shown at night and is brightly lit, especially around the edges of the roof and on the tower.; Legible signs include, from left: "Lion Head", "[W]illard Garage Batteries", "Firestone Tires", "Gilmore Blu-Green Gasoline", "No Smoking", "Stop", "Fleet Gasoline", "U. L. Anderson", "Contains Lead", and "Gilmore Red Lion Gasoline".

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
