Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the adobe of the major domo of the Monserratee Sheep Ranch in Fallbrook, ca.1875-1900. A sheep or large dog is visible at left, in front of the narrow side of a one-story adobe ranch house whose spackle has crumbled to expose brick. Against the facade farther right, various detrious is visible: bed frames and pieces of scrap wood. In the right background, a one-and-a-half story wooden barn can be seen. A can can also be seen at the corner of the adobe, sitting on top of some of the scrap wood.

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
