Photograph of an exterior view of the Chee Kung Tong Co. building on Marchessault Street in Los Angeles's Chinatown, ca.1933. The two-story brick building can be seen at left. It has a long wooden balcony on its second floor, while several doorways are visible on the first. The words "Chee Kung Tong Co." appear near the roof of the building at left. Several more two-story brick buildings can be seen in the background at right. A wide dirt road runs from the foreground at left into the distance at right. The offices of the Hoy Sun Ning Yung Benevolent Association can be seen on the first floor at left.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
