Description
Photograph of a cabbage field in southeast Los Angeles, 1926. A man in a dark jacket and lightly-colored shirt stands on the right with an ocean of cabbage plants surrounding him. The rows of cabbages are separated by thin lanes of soil which appear to be darkened with water. A thick lane is dug into the field on the far right. The lane leads to the trees and large structure which stand on the far edge of the field in the background.

The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
