Description
Photograph of the construction of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce building, ca.1922. The construction site can be seen in the foreground. It was located between Broadway and Hill Street, and between 11th Street and 12th Street in Los Angeles, CA. Several large cranes can be seen in the rectangular site, and the ground is littered with metal beams. Several small structures can be seen near the bases of the cranes.The three-story Herald Examiner building with a terracotta tile roof can be seen in the background at left. American flags fly from its roof.; Legible signs include, from left: "Fords", "IXL Auto Market", "[Herald] Examiner" and "Auto Park". The building was demolished in 1968; it was located at 1151 South Broadway. Additional information: Originally, the photograph was captioned as "Construction of a large building, possibly in Los Angeles's Chinatown, [s.d.]".

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
