Description
Photograph of starboard view of the U.S.S. Connecticut with several smaller boats alongside, 1908. At center, the large hull of ship extends across the image. Standing on both ends of the ship and along the center, crowds of people can be seen. Near the base of the hull To the left, two boats crammed with passengers sit next to the stairwell of the ship. Another small boat with a covered canopy is visible further to the right. Three smokestacks are visible at the center of the ship, framed by two large masts on either side. A small flag adorns the top of the left mast. Also, an American flag can be seen waving in the wind at one end of the ship, while a smaller unidentifiable flag is visible on the other end. In the extreme background, a low wall is visible stretching across the photograph behind the ship.
