Description
Photograph of steamship, sailing ships, and several small boats along a wharf, ca.1920. In the background at center, a large steamboat is seen sitting in the water near a wooden pier. Two large masts are seen on the steamboat, and a small smokestack is visible at its center. To the left of the ship, several small sailboats can be seen. Each sailboat has a central mast with several wires connecting to the deck of the boat below. In the foreground, several small boats can be seen sitting in the cramped channel. To the left of the channel, several ladders are visible leading to a large rectangular structure on wheels. Several windows line the side of the structure and small pipes emerge from its top. To the right of the channel, a wooden pier can be seen. Two men are visible standing near the edge of the pier. Another group of men huddle near a building in the background. In the extreme background, additional buildings can be seen. Photoprint reads: "Liverpool".

Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
