Description
Photograph of a view of the American docks and shipping at the Saint Nazaire harbor in France, ca.1916. The foreground is occupied by several docked sail ships with tall masts and wooden hulls. A large metal tower is at left and a bell is mounted at the top. A long line of large, narrow steam ships is making its way through the harbor at center. The calm water of the port is surrounded by low wooden warehouses and buildings, and there are low mountains in the distance at right.; The only legible sign is at left and reads "[...] Navale de L'Ouest".
