Description
Photograph of the Mines Field, known today as Los Angeles International Airport, ca.1930. An unpaved section of airstrip is visible in the foreground - on this section, lie several reflector lights that are mounted on a block. The bumpy patch eventually leads to the paved runway, at middle, where several biplanes are parked in a line, facing the airport. The airport buildings reflect Spanish architecture and are large structures with numerous openings. In the background, at center, several trees can be seen. Note: Originally, the photographs was captioned as "Pre-war view of the Los Angeles International Airport, [s.d.]".
