Description
Photograph of a birdseye view of cars traveling on the causeway across MacArthur Park, [s.d.]. The causeway, crossed by Wilshire Boulevard, runs from the foreground to the background at center. A lake can be seen on both sides of the causeway, and many trees are visible around the water. Automobiles can be seen on the paved roads, and tall buildings are visible in the background. The Elks lodge can be seen at right, and hills are visible in the background. The back of a billboard is visible in the left foreground. MacArthur Park was formerly known as Westlake Park. California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
