Description
Photograph of people walking through Pershing Square, showing the Title Guarantee and Trust Company building, ca.1935. Men and women can be seen walking along a wide, paved walkway from the center foreground towards the background. A man and woman at left wear suits. Benches line the walkway, while various palms, trees, and plants can be seen at left and right. Buildings are visible in the background, including the Title Guarantee and Trust Company building to the left of center. This art deco building was completed in 1931 and features Zig Zag Moderne features. It is topped with a prominent Gothic style tower. Additional information: The Title Guarantee and Trust Company Building was designed by John and Donald Parkinson. They were prominent architects who designed quite a few buildings in downtown Los Angeles (and on the USC campus). The building was finished in 1930 and opened in 1931.
