Description
Photographic portrait of operators and passengers on and around the first successful electric streetcar in Los Angeles, ca.1885. Twelve men, two of which are operators, stand on the running boards of the streetcar, which is decorated on top by seven American flags and in by a wreath at its front. Four young children stand in the foreground, starting at the left and continuing in line toward the front of the trolley, while final men stand back from the car to the extreme right. A clapboard-faced building is partially visible behind them.
