Photograph of a panoramic view of a commercial street in Brawley, Imperial Valley, ca. 1904. In the foreground, an unpaved road can be seen running in perspective towards the background. In the middle, at right, a commercial building which appears to be a hardware or general store is visible. Three people stand under a set of awnings along its front wall. At center, a man can be seen standing in a buggy drown by two horses. At left, a line of one- and two-storey buildings is visible running towards the background along the left side of the road.; Legible signs include: '[...]ness Shop; [...]an & Laiblin; [Heard] Store; Hardware and Crockery; Heard Merchandises; [R]estaur[a]nt; Brawley Mercantile Company".

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
