Description
Photograph of a panoramic view of Los Angeles, showing Main Street and Broadway, looking north from Eleventh Street, November 21, 1931. A street can be seen below, beginning in the right foreground, extending to the middle distance. Numerous buildings can be seen on the right and left sides of the street. A street car can be seen running down the center of the street, in the center of the photograph. Numerous automobiles can be seen parked on the right side of the street next to the sidewalk. Several billboards can be read on the sides of some of the buildings, including, "New Orpheum, America's finest theatre", "W.P. Fuller and Co. varnishes brushes and glass", and "American Wall Paper and Paint Co.". Compares to images CHS-7646, CHS-14623-p, CHS-14623.1, CHS-14623.2, CHS-14623.3, CHS-14623.4, CHS-14623.5, and CHS-14623.6.

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
