Description
Photograph of a the former members of the Sunset Club seated on the premises of the Squirrel Inn, May, 1911. Twelve men are posed at right in three rows. The middle row is seated in chairs, while the front row is sitting on the ground and the back row is standing. All of the men are wearing suits and ties, and most of them are holding hats in their laps. A small group of three other men is conversing in the background at left. There are several trees in the background as well. A card in the upper left corner reads "Annual Relief from Care Squirrel Inn, May 27-30 Sunset Club, 1911 'The Ex-Presidents' (Every living one--except C. D. Willard) Perpetual Incubuses in the background".

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
