Description Photograph of street trolley car passing a street corner, ca.1930. At center, a large rectangular trolley car is visible passing along a street. Fourteen windows can be seen along the side of the trolley, and several passengers are visible within the car. On the side of the trolley at center, three long rectangles form the doorway for the vehicle. From the top of the trolley, a large metallic rod can be seen extending towards the upper-right. In the foreground to the left, the back of a single man can be seen. The man is wearing a lightly-colored suit and matching hat. In the background behind the trolley, several windows and signs on the side of a corner building can be seen.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
