Description
Photograph of Main Street looking north from Second Street (east and west side of street), December 1, 1932. Many automobiles can be seen driving or parked on Main street. Both sides of the street are lined with buildings, at most, three stories high. Male and female pedestrians can be seen walking on the sidewalks and crossing the street. A network of streetcar electric wires can be seen suspended above the street, and streetcar tracks can be seen embedded within the street itself.; Legible signs read: "Money to loan", " "California", "Pool", "Sporting Goods", "Rooms. Beds", "Second and Main Buffet", "Oferta especial gratis O.K. Tuey herbalista", "[Chin]ese Herbs", "Hotel Yorke, beds 25c., rooms 50c., hot-cold water in every room", "Clean beds 20c.", "Dentist", "Second and Main Buffet Tacoma Brew on draught", "Tacoma Brew 5c.", "Painless methods, guaranteed materials", "Suction Plates".; Note: the lower right portion of the negative appears damaged.

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
