Description
Photograph of the construction of the Samson Rubber plant in Compton, ca.1928. Four men are using a wheeled cart to move a massive metal pipe at center. An overturned wheelbarrow can be seen in the foreground at right, and a brick wall can be seen at left. Overhead, the metal rafters that support the roof are visible. The floor is plain dirt and is littered with wood scraps and horseshoes. In the background at right is what appears to be a furnace.

In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
