Description

Photograph of the view of a Port of Los Angeles warehouse and Marine Exchange building, [s.d.]. The ocean occupies the entire foreground. In the middle, at center, the warehouse can be seen - it is a large building with three entrances at it's base. On the right side of the warehouse's flat roof, lies the tiny Marine Exchange building. To the left of the warehouse, numerous poles are visible standing along what appears to be another warehouse building. To the right of the warehouse, a few other small buildings can be seen near the pier. Compares to CHS-49709.; Legible signs from left to right read: "Port of Los Angeles", "Marine", "Warehouse No. 1 Free and Customs Bonded Storage".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
