Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Roosevelt School, [s.d.]. The slender double doors stand below a stone arch at center which reads "Roosevelt School". Small, dark fences decorate the outside of the tall windows on either side of the entrance. A short staircase outside the doors leads to a wide, paved path which lies in in a yard of sand. Small, spiny plants stand along the paved path in the foreground.

Title
Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
