Photograph of airliner, showing modified interior, ca.1960. At center, an oval table sits in the middle of the walkway of an airliner's interior. To the left of the table, a darkly-colored circular sofa with several pillows is seen. To the right, two leather armchairs beneath hanging lamps are visible. To the further left and right of the table, decorative curtains frame the interior windows of the plane. Beyond the table in the background, a doorway reveals another compartment within the plane. The open doorway is framed by a wooden wall with an eagle statue hanging on the right side. In the foreground, additional seats and tables are visible. Additionally, a Life Magazine is seen sitting on a table to the left.; Photoprint reads: "Aircraft modified for business executive use by Garrett Corporation's Air Research Aviation Service Division, LAX".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
