Description Photograph of Boulder Canyon, down stream from the upper dam site during Boulder Dam construction, April 24, 1921. The water shimmers in the sun as it washes up on the smooth beach in the foreground on the left. Further down the beach is littered with dark boulders which spill into the water at center. The water flows through two opposing jagged rock walls which appear to continue as it continues out of sight the background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
