Description
Photograph of "Iao Needle" in the Iao Valley, on the island of Maui in Hawaii, [s.d.]. The tall pinnacle of a mountain stands beside other mountains in the background, while what appears to be a small brook runs through the arborous area in the foreground.; Photoprint reads: "Ioa [sic] Valley, on the Island of Maui, is called the Yosemite of Hawaii. The pinnacle shown here is known as "The Needle" [sic];. It is near the head of the gorge and is one of hte striking features of one of the best known beauty spots of Maui".

Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
