Description
Photograph of a drawing by Edward Vischer depicting the Casa del Paso de Robles at the Mission San Miguel, May, 1865. Three horses, two oxen and a dog are enclosed by a makeshift post-and-rail fence in the left foreground, with two cowboys on horseback to their right. A crumbling two-story adobe building is visible in the left background, on hilly terrain. It features an overhanging roof covered in terracotta tiles that extends from its first level on the right. Text written-in below the image identifies the site and area, and also reads "near the Sheep-Farm of James Blackburn", as well as "Meeting of neighbouring stock-owners at general rodeo for the separation of heads".
