Description
Photograph of workers crating large products for the Montgomery Ward Company , ca.1930. Three men stand around a large crate with the words "Order 66-43-234 Montgomery Ward Co. Bellingham Wash" painted across wooden planks at its side. Beside this crate, at left, one man bends over to nail planks together on another larger crate-in-the-making. In the background, yet another worker can be seen by the windows at the back of the factory.

Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
