Description
Photograph of a group of women working on the Packard-Bell chassis assembly line, ca.1930. At center, numerous women workers can be seen seated on supported stools around a long rectangular table extending far into the background at left. A long white line runs along the floor marking the boundary point for the stools. A strip of power outlets can be seen along a raised platform at the center of the table. Several of the power outlets are being used at each station. A large metallic box has been placed in front of each woman on a slanted table. Wires, batteries, and electrical components can be seen within each of the boxes. In the foreground at center, a rectangular panel partially filled with small plugs can be seen. Many cylindrical object with a large black handle can be seen at each work station. The women in the foreground can be seen clutching the object and using it within the metallic container. Many of the women shown appear to be wearing lightly-colored blouses and long skirts, but the dress style varies for each woman. In the extreme background on the right, large square cabinets can be seen lining the walls. Women are visible sitting at large desks filled with numerous packages and papers.
