Photograph of aerial view of unidentified factory and surrounding city, ca.1930. Near the bottom of the image, a large factory area is visible stretching from the left of the image to the far right. On the far left, cars sit near two buildings with sharply angled roofs. On the side of these buildings, three large smokestacks are visible. A visible stream of smoke is being emitted from two of the smokestacks. At the center of the factory area, an elevated road is seen moving to the right. Several more buildings and smokestacks are seen to the right and in the near background. On the far right, a large water tower stands erect. In the far background, a large city is visible.

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
