Photograph of composite image of five airplanes that flew in the Dominguez Air Meet, 1910. Above center, a group of five different planes have been compositely placed in this photograph . At center, the profile of a slender plane with a single propeller at its front and a tail composed of cloth is visible. To the left of this plane, two different types of biplanes can be seen flying in the sky. To the right of the center plane, a plane with a wide wingspan and single propeller is seen above, while a crudely-made biplane flies below. In the foreground below these planes, crowds of spectators sitting on benches look up to admire the planes. In the background, two flags can be seen fluttering in the wind.

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
