Description
Photograph of a view of San Jose following the 1906 earthquake, showing damage done to Saint Patrick's Church, 1906. The plant-covered tower of what was once Saint Patrick's Church stands at the corner of the street at center with a pile of collapsed debris spilling into the street behind it. Houses that appear to be intact can be seen further down the street on the far left while the remains of the front wall of the church extend from the tower to the right. Those remains include the bottom of the thick wall and a broken, arched, stained glass window. Debris is piled on the side of the street on the far right while a cleared plot of dirt stands in the foreground.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
