Description
Photograph of a young Hopi Indian woman grinding corn for flour, ca.1900. She is kneeling behind a wooden trough inside of which lay grinding stones. A small window is at her right and the open door of the adobe dwelling is in front of her. She is inside. A few bowls, jars, grinding stones, and basins sit on the dirt floor. A pile of husks sit to her left. Clusters of corn cobs hang drying from the ceiling. Outside a ladder leans against a pueblo dwelling near several doors and windows.
