Photograph of a panoramic view of the Los Angeles County Fair, 1936. A oval shaped plot of land that could be a race track is visible just to the left of center while a parking lot full of cars can be seen at the bottom and behind the track. A large building that seems to be the stadium for the track can be seen to the right of center while a small plot of land full of people and small structures can be seen at right. Empty grass land is visble at the top.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
