Description

Photograph of an aerial view of the Willys-Overland plant in Los Angeles, ca.1925. Rows of identical buildings sit perpendicular to a long building in the center. Cars are parked in a lot to the right and on the street at the bottom right. IN the background, a water tower that appears to have the company's name written on it stands to the left of center next to three square shaped buildings that get progressively smaller. The land behind the plant seems to be barren flat land lined with electrical and telephone poles.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
