Description
Photograph of an aerial view of Santa Barbara from the bay, California, ca.1910. A long, central building with skylights and bearing an American flag from its roof stands in the foreground to the right, with the beach and the wharf visible beyond it in the background. Clothes have been hung out to dry behind it. Further in to the photo, automobiles and horse-drawn carriages make their way down a wide, unpaved street outlined by trolley car tracks. At its end in the foreground to the left, a small building bears a sign that reads "Ice Cream". A trolley car has stopped to the right, and pedestrians are gathering to board it. The buildings of the city are visible in the background, widely dispersed, along with rolling hills and the silhouette of a mountain.
