Description
Photograph of a painting named the Madonna of the Franciscans, by Murillo, [s.d.]. Madonna appears to be standing on a cloud with cherubs pushing (or clinging onto?) the clouds at her feet. "Esteban Murillo, the most popular Baroque religious painter of 17th-century Spain, noted for his idealized, sometimes precious manner. Among his chief patrons were the religious orders, especially the Franciscans, and the confraternities in Seville and Andalusia." -- Encyclopedia Britannica.
