Photograph of a view of the entrance to the Los Angeles County Fair, showing a four-way street intersection, ca.1930. The intersection of four roads, possibly unpaved, sits at the right centerground of the image. Several multi-story buildings sit near the intersection amidst trees and utility poles. Two men stand in the foreground, in an expanse of dirt that is lower than the ground level of the rest of the image, while another man stands on the road behind them. Rows of trees extend into the distance on the right.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
