The hotel as three identical tall brick towers; all three are topped by flag poles, and American flags fly on the outside two, while a narrow banner is on the middle one. The hotel overlooks a park, at the center of which there is a tall marble column topped by a statue of a person reaching skyward. On the streets below, there are motor cars and the famous San Francisco cable cars. The hotel was destroyed by a fire on April 18, 1906.
