Description
Photograph of a drawing depicting a birdseye view of the Midwinter International Exposition held at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, 1894. A replica of the Eiffel Tower stands at the center of the park to the right, topped by a flag-speared globe. Numerous other decorative state buildings surround it. A hot-air balloon floats, attached to a wire at left, while a ferris wheel can be seen among the buildings to the right. Fairgoers make their way towards the center of the park from outside roads. Further left, a faux Indian village complete with teepees can be seen, below which is a canopy housing several lengths of trains. Ships are visible in the bay that cuts through the mountains along the horizon. A second mountain ridge cuts into dry land a little farther forward to the left. Trees fill the rest of the frame.
