Description
Photograph of a Pima Indian man, John Thomas, Chief at Gila Crossing, Pima, Arizona, ca.1900. He is sitting on several small fell tree trunks outside. He wears a bowler hat, a dark bandana tied about his neck, a white shirt with ruffles up the front, and dark trousers. His short white sparse moustache connects to equally sparse mutton chops contrasting with his dark complexion. His left hand lays on his left knee. His right hand lays on his right shin. The desert is visible behind him.
