Description
Photograph of statues at San Francisco's Cliff House Restaurant, ca.1890. There are two statues of people visible: there is a woman in the foreground, clothed in a simple dress or toga and looking down at an unidentified object in her hands; there is also a man in the background, wearing only a loin cloth and leaning one arm on a waist-high pillar while reaching skyward with the other. Between the two statues is a plant in a stone vase, while another vase is visible beyond the statue of the man. In the distance on the right side of the picture is a windmill.
