Description
Photograph of an olive press at the San Diego Mission, ca.1900. The press has a frame made of large wooden blocks and a wooden shelf in the middle. There is a metal screw going from the shelf through the top beam of the wooden frame, probably used to move another piece of wood down to press the olives on the shelf. There is an adobe wall directly behind the olive press, which is located in a clearing amidst a group of oak trees. There are rocks on the ground around the olive press, along with small twigs and grass.
