Description
Photograph of a view of Mission Play Theatre in San Gabriel, April 1928. The mission-style building is at center. Three large archways lead to the entrance of the building at right, while another archway can be seen at left. A companario can be seen on top of hte buildng, while a wooden structure with a bell-shaped light can be seen on the roof at left. In the foreground at left, a sign depicts a fiar and bears the words "The Mission Play".

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
