a n th r a c e n e n u c le u s had an a p p r e c i a b l e e f f e c t b o th upon th e
r a t e o f r e a c t i o n a n d u p o n th e e x t e n t o f th e r e a c t i o n a t
e q u i l i b r i u m . M e th y l g ro u p s i n th e meso p o s i t i o n s had l i t t l e
e f f e c t upon th e p o s i t i o n o f th e e q u i l i b r i u m , t h e r e s u l t s
b e in g , i d e n t i c a l w i t h i n t h e l i m i t s o f e x p e r i m e n t a l e r r o r .
